MOUNT VERNON PLACE SIDEWALK INSTALLATION
CITY OF DUNWOODY, GA
Project included completion of concept, survey database and construction plans for the installation of a 6’ sidewalk to connect existing sidewalk along Mt. Vernon Place to another sidewalk project along Mt. Vernon Road. The plans included curb and gutter and the reconstruction of driveway aprons to provide ADA accessibility. The sidewalk meandered around existing trees and utilities to reduce impacts. Storm drainage was captured in proposed catch basins to control gutter spread. A short gravity wall with handrail was also utilized to minimize impacts to private property.
OF SR 140 AT SCOTT ROAD AND AVERY ROAD
CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA
Project included completion of a traffic study, environmental screening, concept, survey database and construction plans for these intersections improvements. After completion of the traffic analysis to validate planning studies, construction plans are being completed to add a right turn lane from both T-intersections onto SR 140. The existing signal at Scott Road will be modified to accommodate the right turn lane and the project will also coordinate with the GDOT widening of SR 140 to provide a two-way left turn lane between these intersections. Improvements to the horizontal and vertical alignments were required to improve sight distance. PDP is also completing utility coordination for the county.
EROSION CONTROL INSPECTIONS FOR THE WIDENING AND RECONSTRUCTION OF SR 140 G.P.'S ENTERPRISES, INC.
Project included monthly site inspections of erosion control measures to ensure conformance to the Erosion, Sedimentation & Pollution Control Plan for this seven-mile GDOT widening project. After each inspection, a letter summary was provided to the client for submission to EPD. PDP also identified any issues with the plan and made redline recommendations as required.
VALUE ENGINEERING PLAN REVISION FOR THE RONALD REAGAN BLVD EXTENSION
G.P. ENTERPRISES, INC.
Project included preparation of a plan revision to replace a proposed precast double arch culvert due to constructability concerns. A multicell box culvert configuration was proposed including a triple box culvert embedded within the stream banks and a sextuple box culvert overflow structure. A hydraulic revision was completed to determine the culvert size and an environmental memo completed to document the reduction of wetland and stream impacts.
DUNWOODY ROAD SIDEWALK INSTALLATION
CITY OF DUNWOODY, GA
The Dunwoody Road Sidewalk Installation project connects the existing sidewalk within the Oakpointe subdivision to the city limit line along Dunwoody Road, via Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Two alternatives were provided to the city, which evaluated the pros and cons of installing the sidewalk along the north and south sides of Dunwoody Road. PDP utilized the city’s GIS contours to develop a terrain model and cross-sections to determine approximate impacts to residential properties and a stream buffer. The alternatives evaluated potential storm drain routes for each side of the roadway. Sidewalk turn-down and turn-up wall locations were identified as well as a six-foot tall gravity wall in the area of the stream to eliminate stream impacts. The sidewalk meandered around existing power poles and offset storm drain boxes were proposed to minimize underground gas and sewer lines. PDP evaluated public input and provided recommendations to the city. The project will proceed with the completion of survey database and construction plans after determination of the preferred alternative.
VERMACK ROAD SIDEWALK INSTALLATION
CITY OF DUNWOODY, GA
The Vermack Road Sidewalk Installation project connects the existing sidewalk just north of the Vermack Road Swim and Tennis Club to existing sidewalk at Womack Road. Two alternatives were provided to the city. One included the installation of sidewalk on the west side only and the other included installation of bike lanes and sidewalk in both directions. The sidewalk meandered around existing landscaping and power poles while minimizing the need for easement from residential properties. To evaluate drainage issues along the corridor, the survey database was completed in advance of the conceptual layout. PDP evaluated the existing profile of the gutter line throughout the project and identified multiple low points to be corrected during design. PDP evaluated public input, provided recommendations to the city based on the input and developed a third alternative which incorporated traffic calming measures along with the bike lanes and sidewalk.
GLYNN COUNTY SPLOST COST ESTIMATES
GLYNN COUNTY, GA
PDP assisted Glynn County in their preparation for the proposed 2021 SPLOST Referendum by completing planning level cost estimates for seven projects. The project types included roadway widenings, intersection improvements and drainage improvements. PDP staff visited each site to identify potential issues that could affect the project costs and the estimates were completed within one week of NTP.
SR 140/ARNOLD MILL ROAD AT GREEN ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT
CITY OF MILTON, GA
Project includes completion of a Traffic Engineering (TE) Study and concept development for the installation of a new traffic signal at SR 140 and Green Road. The existing right turn lane along Green Road is proposed to be extended to facilitate long queues during the peak hour. Shifting tapers were used to minimize impacts to private property and reduce construction costs. After approval of the TE Study, the project is anticipated to move forward with completion of survey database and construction plans.
RUNWAY 9L END-AROUND TAXIWAY PHASE 2
MCCARTHY IMPROVEMENT COMPANY
Project included completion of an Erosion, Sedimentation & Pollution Control Plan for a 54 acre project at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The project consists of seven phases and included a 1,500 CY sediment pond. Erosion control BMPs were phased with the construction plan to maintain security access to the airport facilities. PDP also assisted with the preparation of the Notice of Intent (NOI).
CARROLL COUNTY BORROW PIT ESPCP
MCCOY GRADING, INC.
Project included completion of an Erosion, Sedimentation & Pollution Control Plan for a borrow pit at SR 100 in Carroll County. PDP completed a grading plan to achieve the required volume of earthwork while also improving land use of the private property. A temporary sediment trap with a rock outlet was designed for sediment storage.
VALUE ENGINEERING PLAN REVISION FOR SR 201 AT TANYARD CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
GEORGIA BRIDGE AND CONCRETE, LLC
Project includes preparation of a plan revision to convert the proposed two-span bridge to a single span configuration. A hydraulic revision is being completed to reflect a decrease in headwater elevations. PDP also evaluated the opportunity to reduce the bridge length, which was determined infeasible due to increased environmental impacts.
VERMACK ROAD PATH INSTALLATION AT DUNWOODY HIGH SCHOOL
CITY OF DUNWOODY, GA
The Vermack Road Shared Use Path Installation project provides for a twelve-foot-wide shared use path along the frontage of Dunwoody High School. The path will be offset three feet from the back of curb to protect users from the on-street parking and the potential for open doors. This buffer also allows existing power poles to remain in place. Underground detention is proposed to reduce stormwater runoff. PDP has completed the conceptual layout for this project, and after public input is received, will complete the survey database and construction plans.
ANVIL BLOCK ROAD, PHASE III - DESIGN BUILD SIDEWALK
PDP completed the design-build portion of this project to install sidewalk along Rateree Drive and Anvil Block Road. The previously completed roadway plans were revised to include the five-foot sidewalk installation, including a two-foot grassed buffer. ADA ramps were also installed for accessibility. The plans were completed within two weeks of NTP.
RONALD REAGAN MOT PLAN
PEACH STATE CONSTRUCTION CO, LLC
PDP completed a maintenance of traffic (MOT) plan for the installation of median barrier along Ronald Reagan Pkwy at the Oak Road grade separation.
